Truly for Microsoft Teams

This guide explains how to add the Truly Teams app, use it during meetings, and remove it from your Microsoft Teams account.

Prerequisites

  • You have a Microsoft Teams account with permission to install or use custom/approved apps
  • Your organization allows the Truly app in Teams
  • You can join or host a Teams meeting

Adding the App (Required)

  1. Open Microsoft Teams.
  2. Go to Apps and search for Truly (or open the app from your organization’s approved apps list).
  3. Click Add and grant the requested permissions.
  4. Start or join a Teams meeting.
  5. Open the Truly app from the meeting app tray/panel.
Screenshots for Teams installation flow will be added soon.
For help if something does not load, go to Troubleshooting.

Usage (Required)

Use case: Verify the identity of a candidate or participant during a live Teams meeting. Prerequisites:
  • Truly app is opened in the Teams meeting
  • At least one participant is present in the meeting
How to use:
  1. Click Copy Message in the Truly app.
  2. Paste and send that message in the Teams meeting chat.
  3. Ask the participant to open the link and complete the authentication session.

Feature: Review session result and metadata

Use case: Confirm if a participant is authentic, suspicious, or requires additional review. Prerequisites:
  • The participant has completed the authentication flow from the link
What you can review:
  • Session status (for example, completed)
  • Result (for example, authentic or suspicious)
  • Metadata such as device, browser, OS, location, and risk indicators

Removing the App (Required)

  1. In Microsoft Teams, open Apps > Manage your apps.
  2. Find Truly and select Remove.
  3. If your organization manages apps centrally, ask your Teams admin to remove or block Truly for your account/tenant.

Implications of de-authorization

  • You can no longer launch Truly from Teams meetings on that account.
  • New authentication sessions cannot be created until the app is installed again.
  • Existing historical results already generated in your Truly workspace may remain available for compliance/audit needs.

Data handling after removal

  • Removing the app stops new Teams-triggered data collection from that account.
  • If you also want previously collected session data deleted, contact support at support@truly.ws and include your workspace details.

Troubleshooting

  • App not available in Teams: confirm your organization has approved Truly.
  • Cannot add app: check with your Teams admin for app install permissions.
  • Participant cannot complete authentication: resend the copied message and confirm the participant opens the latest link.
